[RC] Probiotics Use - Roger Rittenhouse

Yes all the time. I mix it in with the feed the same
day I give the wormer. I use the cattle Ivermeticm most of the time
but this time I bought the equine ORAL liquid from my vet - it cost me
about $10 more..but I have to support my vet? :))

I give ABC PROBI for at least 3 to 4 days after.

If and when I do the stongid purge I give it everyday and at least 4
days after the 5 day purge.
I have however choose NOT to do the purge thing this year .. Last year
my older mare had a very slight case of colic on day 2.. not sure why
but since I do the Ivermectim 3 to 4 times per year and then start
the daily wormer in the late winter.. I think my program is adequate.

Post note - in over 15 yrs of using the daily wormer I have had NONE
zip zero - performance related issues due the use of this product.. I
even had one horse scoped to set aside the 'cause' for a colic DNF..
he had NO stomach related issues.. UT BIG ORANGE staff vets think
there is NO proof what so ever related to 'performance problems' when
using the daily wormer.. its an 'equine myth' just BS or HS bunk.
NO real SCIENCE behind the 'suggestions' by a few...

How many of you use a Probiotic after using a dewormer
and/or doing the Purge on your horses?

What are the pros and cons of using a Probiotic after
deworming/purging?

How soon after worming/purging do you use the
probiotic? Any kind of probiotic better than others
and if so which ones?
