A hunter once told me he could get closer to
wildlife on a horse than on the ground, because the smell of the horse covered
up the smell of the human to wildlife. (Apparently to wildlife, the smell
of a horse is not anywhere near as obnoxious as the smell of a
human... Come to think of it, I'd have to agree with the wildlife on
that....)
So maybe we get better sightings than mere hikers
or bikers, eh? Sure sounds like it from all the wonderful sighting stories
I've been reading here lately!
