I had a lovely mare that was an Arab crossed with a Pryor
Mtn. mustang mare. The stallion was CMK, mostly, if
I remember.
She was just under 15h, and amazing color (sorry,I love
odd colors). She had good bone and feet, level back, gorgeous neck and head and
very, very smooth. She had an awesome fast down hill walk and smooth
canter.
My kids did 2 Ld rides on her, she did fine. She did
not have the recoveries my Arab or Anglo did, but then maybe more conditining
could have helped. I did sell her, which I now sort of regret, oh, well no, I
don't as she got a wonderful home with a great rider and lady who has her
trained for park patrol, POST training and Seach and Rescue.
There are some photos of her in the July 1003 Trail
Blazer mag, she went on the "wuss Tevis ride"pulling ribbons in 4 days with
Marion Arnold.....look for the buckskin pinto or I can email
photos!!!
I also currently have a very large mustang mare that I
think would be a terrific cross back with an Arab, if I was ever going to raise
another baby, which I won't!
There was also a gal in Montana crossing specifically
Kigers with Arabs.....she had a really cute buckskin colt for sale. I can dig up
the link if someone wants.....
I am planning on crossing a really nice Arab mare with a Kiger
mustang. I just think it would be too cool even if it didn't end up
being my next endurance horse. That is the plan though, it being my next
endurance horse. I have always had a fascination with mustangs, Kigers
in particular and wondered how good of an Endurance horse a cross with an Arab
would be. Anyway, just wondered if anyone out there had a Arab/Kiger
cross or a Arab/Mustang cross, or even just knew about one, and had thoughts
or opinions.
