[RC] feeding questions - Alice Yovich

I had always had trouble keeping weight on my mare once we started competing until I started feeding her Ultium. At first I resisted it b/c my only other experience with beet pulp had produced a horse "full of beans"On this feed she has finally gained weight and become fit. And guess what? I have a horse that's full of beans. I won't ever know if my past bag of beet pulp had too much sugar for her, or if it just made her feel good and so much energy I didn't know what to do with her, but I know this feed is working now. And I don't have to feed much either. she gets grain once a day and is on free choice hay/pasture all day and night. Two bags of ultium last me a month, so it's not too much of investment. I was spending as much on a textured feed that didn't seem to do anything for her.
