[RC] Off billets... why not?? - The Winters, Cheryl or Randy

One of the original endurance saddles, Frost Centerride, was using an
offside billet on both side in the 70's. They used a thick latigo leather
doubled over and hung off the ring on the saddle. That configuration can be
a little difficult to pull tight and put the tongue of the cinch ring
through. And depending how far apart the holes are the adjustment can
sometimes be difficult to get just the way you want it. If a single leather
latigo is used a quality leather of appropriate thickness should be used or
the holes can stretch but it's easier to get the tightness right. Sometimes
synthetics are better in this case. They are thin and strong and pliable.
Anybody out there still riding a Frost? I still see a few around our
area, Boulder Colorado, since that's where they were made.
