[RC] Update - Straining to urinate - emergency? - Jennifer Thompson

Thanks everybody, for your very quick replies.

Just got back from my second run to the barn tonight. This time, he greeted me quite vociferously - demanding food - which is normal for him. :)

He then promptly dropped and peed a nice long normal pee. YAY!

I had a fellow boarder help me out to check for a bean - we held a front leg up at the same time we felt around for one. Didn't find anything, but he is definitely very dirty (vet is coming next week so we'll take care of that then).

I put him in the turnout and he did not do the straining thing at all. He just ran around like a nutcase, snorting and blowing. Guess he feels okay. Sheesh.

I'm thinking that when he rubbed his belly in the sand tonight, he might have gotten some up in there, and he eventually flushed it out? I don't know for sure though, and plan on keeping a close eye on him and giving my vet a call in the morning just in case.

He is acting totally normal now, and at least I know he is not blocked. So I'll sleep tonight.

Thank you everyone,
Jennifer
