I got that "excuse me" email yesterday too and did open the email as it looked legit..it did say it was from Ridecamp afterall...but my virus program warned me so I did not open the attachment.

The message refered to at the "excuse me" was a virus being propogated under the spoofed addresses of the ridecamp list server. you can always tell if (or if not) the virus went through the list (and was thus distributed to all of the members of ridecamp (and ridecamp-d) by looking at the archives. If the message in question is listed in the archives, then it went through the list, if not, then it did not go through the list.

don't trust From: and To: fields in email messages. they are not verified and are easily forged.

ridecamp has fairly severe (i.e. restrictive) acceptance filters which have thus far not allowed the many attempts to redistribute throug the list much success. I hope it stays that way:)
