Actually, they are.  Freedom of speech - part of the American Way.

A country and a people which suppress an individual's right to say what 
he/she believes is most definitely NOT red white and blue.

In debate, which is theoretically what is going on here on RideCamp (not 
argument), ideas are put forth, they are shot down logically or stand on 
merit.  Just denying the expression of the idea does not win the 
argument.  That's what they do in NON red white and blue countries.
