Re: [RC] West Region Quicksilver Classic ride on Oct 23 CANCELLED - Barbara McCrary

The Quicksilver ride management didn't cancel the ride; the County Park authorities forced the ride to cancel because of possible damage to the trails.  None of the trail would have become impassable, I think, but perish the thought that horses should leave hoofprints on the trails, or cause ruts, or whatever.  Best ask Maryben exactly what the Park authorities believe will happen to the park when the trails are wet.  She's been around this issue for many years.  I may be wrong about impassability; I don't live near the park.....I just happen to be a supportive but fairly inactive member of the Quicksilver Club.

Do you cancel rides just because it rains or was there damage to the trails?  In TX, they still ride it and make a trail around the impassable areas.   Mary Ann
