Re: [RC] Mohammed Atta/Endurance? - Maryanne Stroud Gabbani

Yup. Like John Smith up on Mommy's Darling.

Mohamed is only one of the most common names on the earth. I know people who have it in their names at least twice. When kids ask me my name while I'm riding I usually tell them that it's Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Goma. Drives them crazy trying to figure out why a foreign woman has a name like that, so I ask them if it isn't true that everyone in Egypt is named Ahmed or Mohamed? At that they really go crazy because virtually everyone they know has Mohamed in his name somewhere. Funny thing is that they never pick up on the fact that I gave them a masculine name......

The infamous Mohamed Atta was a young man from urban Cairo and to the best of my knowledge never set butt upon a horse.

Was sitting around doing a search on results of old WEC's and was looking through the list of finishers in Dubai 1998. 15th place was Mohammed Atta of Quatar on Cinco,. Somebody *please* tell me that's a common name over there! I pity the guy if he's out there with that name now. :-P
