[RC] Llano Estacado - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

As a rider who was also at the Llano Estacado ride, let me also pass along this
tidbit. The Park Service was initially very uncooperative. The offered no
more than bringing water and hay (and that only to where the paved road ended,
which was about a mile from camp). Only after the media had been alerted to
our plight (over 63 rigs, 100 horses, and 100 people stranded) did they come to
ascertain the situation. THEN, they had the gall to "measure the damages" and
tell the ride manager, Missi Taylor, that they would be assessing fines and
that she could expect a civil law suit for damages. They agreed to bring in a
road grader at the ride management's expense. They were MOST uncooperative, to
say the least. Of course, they tried to put a nice spin on it for the local
news who broadcast the story Monday evening. I feel certain that nothing will
come of their threats; surely they can't risk such bad PR. Look for an article
to be submitted to EN soon with more details of "Survivor: Plum Creek." Happy
trails!
