Re: [RC] complicated politics in Iraq and the carribean and 3rd world count... - Mary Ann Spencer

Hi Sylvia,
Thank you.  The next time I go to Iraq, which will be within the next yr, I am going to try to obtain a horse or two for the soldiers so we can have a little bit of something besides working 14 or so hours a day.  Not sure how to get the feed but many soldiers took in cats, kittens, puppies and dogs and nice folks in US mailed feed for them.  There are horses pulling work carts so hope to be able to get one, security permitting.  Many things could not be done due to security.  There is NO walmart there.  EVERYTHING has be scheduled, including mailing a package home.  Mailing is an all day thing as have to convoy to Baghdad airport and hope the mortars don't go that day.  There is always small arms fires.  Sounds a lot like a busy hunting season in TX.   We were not allowed most everything that is taken for granted in US.  It could have been worse, we were not gased with anthrax or any chemicals.  As there is still a chance  of bad attacks in US, be aware that if there are no flies around a dead animal, it was poisoned.  Reality in other places can be weird.  Mary Ann

Maryanne, thanks for posting this.  It is good to hear from someone who has actually been there.

Also, thank you for being there....I'm very proud and supportive of our troops!
