[RC] re: question re-insulated metal roof on barns - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

We built our pole barn about 10 years ago. We were going to put in the
insulation and decided not to after talking to a friend who has a leak problem
in her barn. She cannot locate the leak because the insulation hides where the
water is coming in since it travels down the rafters. She also used the nails
to put her metal roof on. She has constant problems and ongoing expenses.

We ended up buying thin plywood (seconds) and covered the roof with plywood and
then tar paper. We put on the metal roof with screws. It made things so easy.
We could walk on the roof as we worked. We have had no problems. Can go up
on the roof anytime to check if screws are backing out or to remove leaves and
clean gutter. No condensation. No leaks. The cost was not much more then the
roll of insulation. Really pleased with the results.
