Re: [RC] [RC] Heart Monitor electrodes - April

Hi, Tess,

I use a neoprene girth. I have a wide soft velcro strap that goes
around the girth and the electrode sticks to it. I have never had a
problem with it rubbing my horse and I use my HRM for almost every
single mile I'm on him. I believe the strap came with my HRM? You
might want to check with Roger Rittenhouse (http://www.vmaxept.com/)
to see if he has such a thing.

I often ride with my girth loose, so I often have a problem with the
electrode actually making contact. I have a Dixie Midnight pad that I
cut down to size and kept the scraps. I folded up one of the scraps
and put it between the girth and the velcro strap to push the
electrode away from the girth. Works great.

Good luck,
April

For those who use the neoprene girts or any girth that is not "fuzzy" how do
you attach the electrode to your girth? I have a couple of fuzzy straps that
I had made to go around my neoprene girth & my electrode then sticks to the
little strap. The strap is made out of fleece so the electrode will stick
but I believe that this strap causes some irritation to one of my horses.
Never on the opposite side where there is no extra strap & never when I don't
use the strap & heart monitor with electrode. Will the electrode stay under
the girth with out something to stick to?????
Thanks in advance.
Tess
