As also mentioned in addition the stallion must be on the "approved list".

My two, and JJ Lucky Image (I don't know about Sha-Win) are
from a Saddlebred stallion on Arab mares.  Which I think is the best way.
As has been pointed out there are a lot of 1/2 Arabs from Saddlebreds that
are not REGISTERED NSH.

This is a case where show barn rejects (i.e. not enough action) are great
endurance mounts.

Ranger does do the saddlebred thing, but only when excited.  It only took a
couple of months to convince him to lower his head and lengthen his trot.
