I have both (left over from our years in the
Midwest). Having multiple blankets so that you can use as many warmth
layers as you want under a waterproof sheet, is usually the easiest way to
go. I also have a waterproof wool insulated blanket that is great
for cold wet rides.
Bottom line: Buy bunches of blankets.
You can never have to many in the trailer.
