Here's what Henry said about that image (and you can talk to Henry,

This is the only horse this has been reported on.  It's not 
reproducible.  Maybe someone had iced that leg before the scan was 
taken - I dunno - but it's certainly not an effect of the shoe.  I 
measured my own 8 horses with an infrared thermometer (the same 
technology) .... 2 of my 8 are shod on all 4; 2 had front shoes only; 
the rest were barefoot.  All eight had the same temperature legs 
whether shod or not... except for one older horse whose front (shod) 
legs were significantly warmer.
