You're in good company about buying a horse with Sweepstakes nomination, 
all things being equal, Truman. I believed I mentioned that Valerie 
Kanavy won $60,000 Sweepstakes one year--- or was that $30,000 she told 
me----Val?  At any rate, my memory may fail me re: the exact amount, but 
it was a sizable amount of change and I was VERY impressed. So much so 
that I bit the bullet and nominated Riverdance-- and believe me, it is a 
sacrifice-- $3500! The good news is that clients who are serious about 
FEI  events can win significant money and when they do, a portion comes 
back to the breeder. No, the breeder usually does not become rich from 
these paybacks, but it is a nice thing to do for one's clients. People 
in racing also nominate for Sweepstakes as there is significant money in 
that sport as well--- it's not just for SHOW anymore ;-)
