Re: [RC] Anyone going to Whirling Windmill? - Rae Callaway

It's raining, so be prepared for lots of mud, which does increase the difficulty of the trail.  One of these days I'm going to ride that trail dry!  I may be going myself as my fall schedule just changed to keep me from going to my favorite rides.  Look for a bay mare with pink tack and a rider with a pink helmet! :o)  That's me & Scarlet.  This will be Scarlet's first time back after a baby (filly!) layoff.

I'm considering going for the Sunday ride - our first!  Most of our training  miles have been done on some much more difficult terrain - steeper, rockier, etc - than this ride will be...am I right in thinking that the easier (grassy, some sand and rolling hills) would be a good first ride that we should be likely to finish?  We've done 15-20 miles of rougher terrain slowly and probably 10 - 12.5 at a faster pace regularly an average of 2 times per week since July plus arena work twice a week for 1.5-2.5 hours per day.

Also, hints on goodies to put in my bags/trailer besides my camera, water and snacks?  Don't know that I'll take the camera on the trail with me since I imagine I'll be spending most of my time focusing on what I'm doing, lol.

If anyone is going please let me know, I'd really love to meet some of the locals finally!
Thanks so much,
