[RC] Another newbie wondering out loud... - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

Here's the deal:
I'm new to endurance with only 8 months experience as an adult
rider (rode jumpers as a kid so I do have something). I am
currently riding 6 days a week (1/2 hr lunging and 1 hr in
the area or on the trail) with the intention of entering
a LD in Oct or Nov.

My mount is a 13.2 little arab mare that moves like there is
absolutely no tomorrow. Wow the pace she keeps...unreal.
The problem is she is a total wacko job with wild eyes
and one hoof on the panic button.
On the trail her ears are constantly forward and she
is very nervous. Okay, why am I riding her? Well, my trainer
is confident that this pony will not only teach me to
successfully ride anything but is an outstanding endurance
prospect. She might be right on both accounts but geez...talk about being tense
on the trail (for both of us).
I want to make this work but maybe she isn't right for me.
Then again maybe I just need more time training.

Is this the spooky crazy trait of the arab? I keep telling
myself she is only a pony and the distance to the ground,
should I fail to stick to the deep seat of the saddle
isn't all that far.
What do you think...should I stick with this crazy mare
or find a different trainer with a horse with a kind
eye and bombproof personality?
