[RC] would not want to canter over broken terrain(?!) - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

 That's what a field trial horse does much of the time! Now,by broken
terrain,I don't mean "everything and anything" of course.I mean "not on a
trail". Especially,I like a horse to carry himself well in "meadow"
country,where the footing cannot be seen,lttle downed saplings may exist,maybe
rocks,a gully here and there,etc.A rack is not what you want there,nor a POSTED
trot,eh? A "lope" or runningwalk/lope continuum seems best in that kind of
country,and this situation,I feel,is where a GOOD gaited horse,(one who
actually HAS the increasingly scarce Runningwalk)is truly the best type of
horse.
