[RC] trailers/accidental unhitching - RENESPONY

been following the thread of hitch/ ball problems.
i had to replace the whole coupler on an older trailer, it was so stripped
the ball would pull out of the thing when closed. lost it on the highway-
thought it was on the ball wrong, but it came off again closer to home. the
chains
caught it, and the truck took a hard hit, so it survived the fall. just a small
pony in it, wondering who was the moron driving!
Thought it was the ball that was stripped, so tested with other receivers
they fell out.
i also travel with wood blocks and a 2 ton floor jack. saved the day.
i too, am also paranoid when at a truck stop or running into a store.
you never know who would think it was funny to pull your pins out, leave a
door open, let your dog loose, let their kids crawl in your trailer to see the
horsies,or mess with your stuff.
i like to check the tires for cuts or screws or nails before a blow out.
getting stuck on the highway sucks.
have someone check the bolts holding your hitch on the truck, those four
bolts do a lot, make sure their not rusted out, or coming loose.
i believe it was some where in Massachusetts a couple of months ago where a
trailer, dont know what kind, came loose from a truck pulling it, became air
borne, and landed on the car in back of it, killing the girl driving.
