RE: [RC] GERA ride - Jim HollandMagic and I were about 19th or 20th. Rode the last couple of miles with Sandy. When we got to the finish line, it was deserted! Back in camp we informed Raylinn what a GREAT runoff we had for 19th place and there was no one there to see it! Race of a lifetime! After a few minutes of patiently listening to us talk excitedly about this "race of champions" she said "I know both of you well enough to know NEITHER of you are gonna race for 19th place!" Rats! Thought we had her going there for a minute! ROFL! My thanks also to Sandy's husband for hustling out there to clear those blowdowns. What a mess! We bailed out of there just as the rain started, since we had to leave early Sunday morning for Charlotte to fit a saddle. Great ride, great weather for this time of year. This ride is sorta like riding OD. Sometimes you get lucky! Great job by ride management and the Vets. Thanks! Jim, Sun of Dimanche+, and Mahada Magic (over 500 miles with this ride) As to ride results, sorry I don't know the name of the winner. She looked twenty something, slim, nice skin, attractive (so obviously hasn't been competing long >eg<) I think she & her husband were both in top 10... M.... last name??? Others in top 10 I remember, Debra Ivey, Bud Davidson, Adele Dennard, "Sheik Josh"(He's really from India, we're messin' with him), Samantha & Sandy Thompson, Wes Crowe was up there, Jody & Joanie Buttram were 11 & 12 and Joanie was first Jr. I know Jim Holland finished. The lady who won was BC. All I know about the 25 was that Wes Crowe's old horse Fact (sp?) won. Completion rates were very high in both rides. No horses treated.
