I've never had a horse with different colored feet that wore, chipped or anything different from foot to foot. That's why I am so hard pressed to understand the supposed strengthening/toughening/antifungal/superduper powers of melanin. Of course, I'm just one person, and maybe my horses are the exception. It sure seems to me that it wouldn't make genetic sense for hooves to be different strengths/toughnesses on the same horse, though. You'd think that would lead to higher incidence of lameness and greater instances of becoming dinner for a predator.
