I'm sure there are lots of $1000 (and $500) horses that could be partners for 10 years, but if the *right* horse for me comes along and costs more, then I pay more.


But of course what you have written is true, and that's why it doesn't pay to be an endurance breeder. Unlike with flat track racing, lots of endurance people agree that breeding "doesn't count".
