[RC] horse buying/selling, making money - rides2far

a friend of mine bought a horse for $1200. kept it two years,
paid for training, board and feed, had to have corrective shoeing
done. got a sailboat and a different girlfriend and hasnt ridden
the horse but once or twice, now wants to sell him, for $2500. says
he just wants to get his money back. i told him, if you just want
your money back, try to get the $1200, the rest is on you. he
doesnt understand. ed

Man, I've dealt with that type and they're impossible. I know a woman who
bought a horse, and he behaved so badly she had to pay a trainer $800 to
work with him. He was not cured, but now she thinks he's worth $800 more.
To me he's worth less than she originally gave because he not only proved
to be difficult, he proved to be hard to cure.

And then there's the ones who add up every bit of food the horse has
eaten in the 10 years they've owned him, but don't think to depreciate
him any because he's older. It's like adding the cost of all the gas
you've ever used to the value of a car. :-P
