Howdy,
Quite a few of you know where Hopkins Meat is in
Sanford. Well there is a Wilderness Park at Lake Jessup at the end of South
Sanford Ave. A girl from a nearby barn was trail riding there with others
on Thursday morning, the horse dumped her and took off away from the other
horses. She was not hurt, but the horse has not been found. The ranger and
the girl followed his trail and found two stirrup leathers and irons but
nothing else and lost the trail. The Sheriff dept had their helicopter fly
over and used infrared. They don't think the horse is still in the area
where he was lost, they did not see or pick up anything. Which means he is
either dead (a possibility) or has made his way out of the park. There is a
conservation area around this land and cow pastures. There are dense
woods, marshes and swamps. It is hard going searching for this
horse.
I am putting the word out in case someone hears of a horse
wandering loose with possibly a saddle still on his back. Animal Services of
Seminole Cty is aware of this as well as the Sheriff's Dept. This horse is
a large bay gelding, T-bred, over 16 hands. If anyone has any ideas or
would like to help please contact me.
