[RC] Cold Mountain Lameness Remedy - rides2farSurprized at the response about similar treatments. I thought my story was a fluke. Maybe those old timers knew something? Maybe not? I haven't seen the movie or the original post on this subject but I'm guessing what it was. I have a photo of a QH with his foot on fire I could scan if anyone would like to see it. A girl at my barn had him for sale when he got an abcess. The ad was already in the paper and she wanted him sound fast. The farrier was there. He'd heard of this treatment and she figured she'd let him try it. He took a wet towel and wrapped it around the coronary band and poured lighter fluid or something in the sole, then lit it. When I heard what he was going to do I ran for my camera. :-) By the way, it didn't seem to help, or hurt. The horse was unconcerned. On the subject of "Cold Mountain". We bought the soundtrack and I was surprised to see the old Sacred Harp style (Fa Sa Lo) singing on it was recorded at Liberty Baptist Church in Henegar, Alabama 40 miles from here where my family homesteaded and we still own the land. Liberty Baptist is where my grandpa used to go to sing Sacred Harp style. I have his old song book here.
