[RC] Chief has ulcers - Laura Hayes

Hi- I don't have time to read all of the replies to this post, so forgive me if I am repeating something someone else said:

Here is what I did with my ulcer case, and it worked great for less than I had expected to spend:

I put my mare on a 6 week course of Cimetadine at a cost of less than $80.  Six (6) 400 mg pills religiously every 8 hours for 6 weeks- I just broke them in half and put them on her grain.  I then cut it down to every 12 hours for a couple weeks.  Now I use Neighlox when we travel.  She has shown a marked improvement in appetite, weight, performance and best of all, no colic symptoms at all.

I was truly thinking that this really talented mare was unsuitable for endurance, but the first ride after her course of Cimetadine she was third at the Shut up and Ride 50, BC with high vet score- looked like a million bucks.

Hope this helps-
