[RC] Chief has ulcers - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

My horses was also diagnosed with ulcers by Dr. Barney Fleming. During the
discussion he said that you need to be careful getting generic ulcer
medications. That many of the compounded medications are too acidic. Ask your
vet if the compounded/generic medication has been tested. He does use a
"generic" medication but he said he had it tested for pH. All I know is that
my mare went from having recurrent colic to zero colic (knock on wood). I was
giving daily neighlox (which has not been tested)but rumor has it that it works
and my experience has been good. However, now she is on pasture most of the
day I am only going to use in in times of stress (i.e. long training rides).
Dr. Barney has a website and has been very good about answering all my
questions in a timely and gracious manner. Good Luck

===========================================================Every horse can be
taught to walk faster than you think. It is one of the
most important qualities of a good riding horse. Some have it naturally,
others need to learn. On the other hand, if you are riding a tired horse,
an easy jog is more efficient, covers more groumnd with less effort. (it's
the rebound effect of the two beat trot)
