Re: [RC] How many saddles do folks buy for endurance? - Suzi Maiorisi

I have 5 saddles and have the 6th demo that arrived today Smiley emoticon.  My main saddle is a funky Ebay purchase that I made before I even got the horse.  It fits me like a glove...as for the horse, it's not so hot but I've kept it and ridden it because it's saved my butt more times than I care to remember.  It's an Aussie/Western cross that is incredibly narrow but when it comes to my behind it just clings perfectly.  I have a Big Horn endurance saddle that'll be on ebay or if anyone's interested it's here and email me privately...needs a home soon, I've ridden it twice, bought it used and I just can't bring myself to give up the ill horse-fitting comfort bucket.  Also have a regular TexTan western saddle...again, ridden maybe 3-4 times...and a full Aussie saddle...and an AP saddle...and a dressage saddle.  I found I really don't prefer the English thing, but I was willing to give it a try.  So...now there's a grand total of 7 saddles...and one horse, LOL.

I've gone through my share of saddles, but only because they didn't fit the horse  at the time. I have ridden in both endurance saddles and in english saddles - I perfer english.  If your saddle fits your horse be thankful - no need to change anything.

PS: Don't show you husband this - it won't help your cause ;-).

I?d like to gather information on how many saddles folks purchase (regardless of number of horses) during an endurance career.

If you used an eventing saddle (for example) for your first endurance ride then went out and got an endurance saddle the eventing saddle does not count because it was purchased for a different intent.

This if for my own curiosity only, I have no hidden agenda or any connection to any tack stores or anything.  Actually, truth be told, I might want to use it as ammunition/excuse to tell my husband should I want to venture out and get an endurance saddle. 0-:
