RE: [RC] tums - Kathy Ramspott

Sorry, I wasn’t clear, I meant for us people to take, not for the horses.  The basic subject was on what electrolytes people should take for themselves to ward of fatigue.

I have heard that race horses are sometimes "milkshaked" - eg given a froth of sodium bicarb - before a race in hopes of that being true. However it is illegal in racing now, and I think I read it was never all that effective anyway, but I'm not certain.

Have any of you on RC heard of this re Tums?

tums is also a source of sodium bicarbonate which slows down the accumulation of lactic acid in your muscles.........letting you ride harder and longer woo hoo.”
