Re: [RC] RC: Flies and Ticks - Barbara McCrary

Our vet has told me that we can use Kill-Tix on horses. It's a systemic
that usually is given to dogs. I was advised to use two packets and pour
little spots of the stuff along the backbone, just as you do for dogs.

RideCampers,

FYI. Last year my grey arab was so allergic to tick bites I had to give
him allergy medicine. I ended up giving him a shot of Iver(Ivo)mec for
cattle - 1mL/1cc per 100lb body weight - and it worked like a charm. No more
bites. The ticks are back with a vengeance this year - looks like I'll have
to do it again. Funny thing though, the ticks aren't bothering my brown
burro! Ruth Abair shakesbearides@xxxxxxxxxx

You don't have to be a 100-mile rider or a multi-day rider to be an
endurance rider, but if you want to experience the finest challenges our
sport has to offer, you need to do both of those.

There is something so magical about being out at night after being on the
trail all day on a long 100 with miles left to go.
