Re: [RC] packing for a ride - was AERC Handbook - Timothy Worden

It's quite a task to pack for a ride. About the time
you don't pack something because you've never used it
before, that's when you'll need it the most;)

I did the same thing- well most of it. The line I

amount of equipment and supplies to camp with your
horse."

The wording just sounded so funny to me - but what
an understatement. I can pack for 2 weeks in Europe
in 5% of the space and time I can for a one-day
ride.

Now, I realize this may sound crazy, but before I
went to my first LD/Endurance ride in Wickenburg, I
printed out all the rules (wasn't an AERC member
yet) and actually read them. Since I ride every day
for 2 to 5 hours, I'm used to standing in the
stirrups alot. With Sebastian it's the only way to
save my kidneys. He can be very rough at times. I
don't shoe my horses and travel over granite and
volcanic rock with no problems.
