[RC] re: posting/balance from rc guest - Cindy Collins

In the midst of the rest of us ripping each other apart, I did read your
post and your request for help:

One is that my toes become numb after posting an extended trot for a long
period of time.

Foot numbness is a common problem. One of the best things you can do is
buy good "endurance" type stirrups, like Clouds or EZ riders. You need
shoes with proper support and good orthodics. Getting off and walking or
jogging (I try to do it at least once every 10 miles on a ride) can really
help. Wiggle your toes! If you continue to suffer, see a foot
specialist. As to how best to sit a "gaiting" horse, I will defer to my
colleagues more familiar with gaited horses. I would think that sitting
back on their kidneys would cause problems over long distances, but maybe
not. Hopefully someone with expertise in that area will answer you. Good
luck. Cindy

Common sense should also be a part of the decision making process. If you
see someone who doesn't have any, hand them your tool box.
