[RC] Stocking up - kc85124

Hi, my endurance horse has an injury and is expected to recover fine with a
months stall rest. The vet told me to keep a pressure wrap on the injured leg
but he is getting a lot of fill (edema) on the other legs. He can put weight
on the injured leg ok so that isn't the problem. Any ideas what I should do
about the stocking up or is it not a problem? I do turn him out in a small
grazing paddock when I'm around to watch him. I hate to bother the vet with
little questions since he is out of town and not my regular vet. My regular
vet misdiagnosed the injury so used another vet for a 2nd opinion. Thanks and
happy trails, Kathy

They're athletes! This is a partnership between horse and rider - we don't
have any jockeys out there, just pals and partners. We'd allow a rider with
a broken foot, a sore back and a nasty cold to compete - but we would never
let a horse in a similiar condition hit the trail.
