[RC] too hot on .75 lb of grain - Nina Vasiliev

Hi all,

My new 3 1/2 yr old morab mare gets hyper on .75 lbs of LMF Super Supplement for grass fed horses. I had her on 1-2 lbs of beet pulp, a bit of oil, salt, flax seed and the Super Sup, plus Rye hay. She does get out for turn out for some grass when the weather is some what dry, but she was on grass pasture and alfalfa when I bought her in Oct. I kept her on just the Rye hay for a few weeks, then added in the BP and grain slowly. I noticed after a week that she was hyper. I stopped the grain, ( so then she stopped eating the BP,) and after a few days she was calmer. Ten days later, I restarted the grain working up to 3/4 of a pound and a few days later she was hyper again, not crazy hyper but, well...anxious, pawing, fretting.

3/4 lb of Super sup is the amount appropriate for her wt. She won't touch the BP without the full amt of grain.

I'm not married to giving her grain, but I was using the super sup to :
1. spice up the beet pulp since she's not interested in eating it without 'flavoring".
2. supplement the Rye hay; ie, added Se, minerals, etc.

So...Any thoughts on how I could accomplish 1. AND 2. ?

Thanks,

Nina Vasiliev
