Re: [RC] hot weather - abigail Madden

My theory is that the horses deal better with the heat partly because they are out in it all day.  Not in the A/C like some of us.  One thing that will help is if you acclimate yourself to the heat and exertion at home by doing more than just riding in it.  Of course stay hydrated, but try doing something to raise your heart rate during the heat of the day.  Get your body used to working in the heat while still safely at home.  Then when you're at a ride and the temps. start to rise, it won't be as big of a shock to your system.  Anyway, works for me.  Good luck.

Does anyone have any hints for humans on dealing with the heat? My horse
deals with it waaaay better than I do (plus, I take care of her first!).
I'm drinking water and Hydralyte (like Gatorade, but much less sugar) but I
still get goofy. Thanks for any advice!

Of course things aren't perfect, perfect doesn't exist on this earth.
Doesn't mean we won't go on trying to get better at what we do. Besides, if
everything was perfect today, what would you do tomorrow? Slamming each
other doesn't get anything done.
