[RC] White spots - Carol

<I just noticed that my Chestnut TWH mare is getting
<white hairs in the saddle area.  They just recently
<showed up when she shed out her winter coat.  I see
<them on both sides of the loin behind the withers.  I
<know that they are likely due to a problem with saddle
<fit.

Peter,
Not neccessarily. My girlfriend has a chestnut and it's getting big white spots on its neck, belly and back. Since some of the places are not where a saddle even touches it she asked her vet who said a change in hormones can cause white spots. I have a grey who is getting big 2" brown spots  in places where the saddle doesn't touch. Both our horses are 10 yrs. old. We just kid around that our horses are too close and rubbing off on each other. Go figure.
