Re: [RC] [RC] Wolfes attack for fun??? - Catfish Daniels

OK, now you got me typing. Financial support of political projects????? Excuse me???? Preserving an animal's existance in its natural environment is a political nature???? Heck, I'd have a hard time thinking about who exactly the president of the united states is, and you think I make financial contributions of my hard earned money due to political motives???? HA!!!!! I have to laugh about that one. Sorry, you're wrong. No matter what Louis and Clark journals you have read, or what your historic knowledge may be as to where the wolf first lived, where he is supposed to live and what you consider unnatural, you still don't get my vote. I've just seen us humans move into too many territories that used to belong to the wildlife. It's time for us to give back just a little bit of what we've taken. That's the ONLY reason for my contributions. Anyway, it's no big deal, I guess we just have a difference in opinion, and I do respect yours. Besides, with the sport of endurance, I'll be broke soon anyways, then you don't have to worry about my financial contributions to save the wolf.

Well, I truly wish we could send the whole lot of them to your back yard
then. Sorry, but I have little patience with people who financially
support projects that are of a political nature and that do harm to
others. There are too damn many "do-gooder" projects like that these
days--it all SOUNDS so "nice"--gee, let's restore nature. Well, the truth
is that the wolves are NOT resident natives here. Historically, they
migrated into and out of Yellowstone with the big game herds, but did not
actually live there year around. Then in the mid to late 1800s a very few
came into this area when the ranchers brought in livestock. They were
killed by the early 1900s. In the early 1800s there were not very
significant game herds here--sources for that information are the Lewis
and Clark journals and the recounting of the Shoshonis themselves who
lived here and had to go to Montana to hunt to get sufficient meat to dry
for winter. No food source, no wolves. Simple as that. Our game herds
have built up in recent years, and we like that. But introducing a major
predator that not only threatens the game but also the livestock is
insane.
