[RC] Girth Galls - Ridecamp Guest

==========================================

I was having trouble with girth galls on my thin skinned mare. I was using a
professional choice neoprene girth and was starting to see a gall. I put on a
wool cover for one ride and then really had a sore. She has a big walk and
what I believe was happening was the skin between her elbow and the girth was
getting pushed together and rubbed. The thick wool cover made it worse. I
switched to a wintec english girth that was narrower than the professional
choice and has rounded edges not square. I also used body glide in that area
until the sore healed. I have not had problems again but if I am going on a
long ride I use the body glide behind her elbows. I also use it on the side of
her tail if I use a crupper. Knock on wood haven't had problems since.
