[RC] bug allergies - DreamWeaver

Why will the high protein feed make it worse? I thought about this and he
was only on a 10% feed, not senior, when we lived in KY and had no skin
trouble. He currently gets about 3-4 pounds senior a day.

The protein seems to exacerbate the problem, or at least it did in my horses case. I fed him hay that was tested at 7 to 8% protein (grass). Alfalfa or hay with clover in it also would make the situation worse. You may want to try changing his hay and see if that helps. Once I had some feed that broke the horses out in hives, and as it turned out the feed store was getting lots of bags of that particular feed returned, so even if it's the same feed you've always fed maybe it's coming from a different mill and there is something different about it.
