Re: [RC] Why do we have Rule 13? - Kristen A Fisher

I haven't been to enough rides to say for sure that shows are more monitored. I have been to more shows than rides and always see the drug test team there and have never seen it at any rides (not to say they weren't there but I didn't notice).  Maybe it has to do with the USAE (now USEF) sanctioning of the event under which the drug rules fall.

By the way, they have an email alias to which you can send a question about a substance and an official will respond to you. I asked about arnica and Rescue Remedy and was told:

Both Rescue Remedy and arnica montana are forbidden by USA Equestrian Rules.  Either administer them in accordance with Article 411, or administer them not closer than seven days prior to competing.
Sincerely,
John G. Lengel

Equine Drugs and Medications Program

Might be something the AERC could think about so if you have a specific issue you can get it addressed rather than hope you are in compliance.

Kristen
