RE: [RC] [RC] full-cheek snaffle - Laurie Durgin

I use one, but they can occasionally 'hang on things" Once in a blue moon, when flipping the reins over his head, I get it snagged on it. I am using it ,because I started with John Lyons training, and it was for sale used and was a Myler Bit. I did get a D ring comfort snaffle for my mare, eventually I will get a D ring for my gelding in a Myler, when I can afford it. If they rub on you, it can get caught in your clothes :0) Laurie

i just got done reading something about full-cheek
snaffles where the person who posted his rant about
them said there was a case where the top bar of the
bit got stuck in the horse's mouth. that doesn't
sound very likely to me. i feel better using it now
because bits slipping through a fairly responsive
horse's mouth does not seem to be right. i just want
to know if you all think a full-cheek is a safe bit.

I still prefer what it is that BH100, Tevis, The Duck's Soup of Endurance,
etc. has to offer...but, to see a horse canter over sand for those
distances...Good Lord, it humbles me.
