[RC] support boots for strained/damaged ligaments? - Ridecamp Guest

i'm curious as to the opinions people might have about the
effectiveness various protective boots might have as far as
supporting the leg is concerned. recently our vet concluded that
she has some type of ligament damage (the ligament that connects
the splint bone to the flexor tendon), probably an old injury.
he suggested daily application of liniment. i intend to do daily
massage as well.

however, someone else suggested use of smb's for support. i've
never used smb's b/c i've heard that they cause the joints to
overheat and also b/c i was concerned that on trails in water
and mud they will caused rubbing or other problems. on top of
all that i've heard mixed opinions on whether or not they
actually offer any support.

so what are your experiences? if you use boots what type and why?
do you think smb's work as support boots or only as protection
from blows?

thanks in advance!
