Re: [RC] ] shipping boots - DESERTRYDR1I use shipping boots occasionally, mainly on longer trailer rides or when I'm hauling another horse with my Anglo-Arab mare (aka the Witch). She does NOT work and play well with others, and mainly I haul her alone. One time, against my better judgment, I hauled my girlfriend's mare (who my mare particularly hates) with her, and they got into a kick fight in the trailer. My mare ended up with several cuts on her legs, and I ended up with $300. worth of damage to my trailer. The shipping boots might have prevented both types of damage. I have some that are tall and have the bend above the hock, and a pad in front of the knee, and come clear down over the hoof. Only problem is that they are a bit long in back, and the slip down a little, so she walks on the bottoms of them, really grinds the manure in. Otherwise I really like them. I usually don't haul more than about four hours, but I like to use them on the way to a ride, as I'd be really unhappy if she stepped on herself on the way, and was lame so I couldn't do the ride after I traveled all that way. jeri P.S. She does this really funny high step with her hinds when I first put them on! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Ridecamp is a service of Endurance Net, http://www.endurance.net.
