Blue, also SE, does the same thing.  He started doing
this during dressage lessons when I'd have him collected
in a frame on the transition from trot to canter.  Neat
gait.  He'll do it on the trails too.  He does not do this
naturally, but he did pick it up on his own.  His daddy is
a Nationally ranked saddleseat horse.
