[RC] Information on toe dragging - RICMARC

My friend has been looking for a horse to replace his aged mare.
He does from 20 to 40 miles of pleasure trail riding a weekend
and needs a sound horse.
After a year of looking he found an Apex Q horse and asked me to go look at for him before purchasing it.
Not a beauty, excellent disposition, BUTTTT here comes the BUT
while circling in the arena  ---not being ridden----just loose---
his right hind leg hesitated before going forward--then toe drag--
not bad but obvious-----coming forward and going away you could not
see it----going counter clockwise it was more noticeably.

Any comments---the horse was not lame----could it be a hip?????
