Re: [RC] odd gaited horse - Barbara McCrary

For what it might be worth to this discussion, I've ridden two horses in my
life that were gaited.  My childhood mare, a Morgan-draft cross, did a
single-foot, and my husband's beloved old horse Grey (some of you will
remember him..he was a top ten endurance horse and a Hall of Fame ride & tie
horse) would rack.  Grey was a Morgan-Percheron cross.

It used to be relatively common for Arabians to rack
or otherwise gait.  *Raseyn (by Skowronek) was
well-known for it, as were others.  Several of mine
have walks that border on some sort of "gaiting," but
I don't know enough about gaited training to help them
do even more.  But, every AERC ride I've been on so
far I've been asked at least once if my mare is
gaited. :)
