[RC] Exercise for MY endurance... - Angie Orr

Could someone help me out with what works best for conditioning the human part of the endurance team? I am not currently doing hardly any riding since its winter and too cold to ride, todays forcast is for 35 below zero!! I want to ride a 100 mile in March (on a horse that has been being ridden BTW). What can I do in this last month to help get ready for this ride. I am not out of shape but I haven't been doing anything too strenuous for a few months. I have an elliptical trainer at home and some weights. Do I work out at an avg heart rate for 20-30 min. 3-4 x's a wk or should I do High end heart rate for 15-20 minutes or more?

Thank you,
Angie Orr
